Focal therapy for prostate cancer is a treatment that uses various types of energy (such as heat or cold) to destroy tumor cells. It aims to preserve healthy tissue and has fewer side effects than radiation or surgery.
In select patients (!!!!), when prostate cancer is detected early, the cancerous area is identified and treated specifically for that area. This results in the death of the cancer cells. Side effects (such as urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction) are less common than with other methods. Specialized devices are used, and side effects are less common than with HIFU.
